Shackfuyu, SOHO

THE place to go in SOHO for all the Japanese cuisine lovers out there, lies the wonderful Izakaya-style dining restaurant, Shackfuyu.

If looking for Japanese comfort food in a relaxed setting, this is your next must-stop place in the fabulous city of London.

As it was a special occasion (boyfriend’s 30th), we went for the Set Menu – a decision I thoroughly recommend to everyone.

Sticking to Japanese cuisine, we of course went for Sake wine; one version of starter sake, one version of main sake and one final glass of sake to compliment our dessert, all served cold.

This “wine” type isn’t normally my cup of tea, but with the flavours of what was to come, it seemed to be the most obvious choice for consumption.

Nibbles to start with consisted of lots of edamame beans, coated in sweet chilli soy & tamarind sauce 👌

The second more filling starter was then served – raw fish, AKA “ceviche”. Very light and packed with a concoction of ingredients & spices to keep you guessing on the good old food palette…

And then for the most exciting & fulfilling dish of them all – the sticky Korean fried chicken wings – any meat lovers’ heaven 😍

Now for my personal favourite, the medium-rare beef with sesame & chilli, accompanied by a fabulous hot stone rice dish with raw egg which was cracked & mixed into the dish right in front of you – a nice touch to the ambience which added to the excitement of the dish.

After a little break, pudding was on it’s way in no time 🍨

Sweet Green Tea ice-cream served on kinako French toast – what else can a girl ask for? 💕

This dessert was absolutely delicious and the service was equally amazing – one of the waiters even brought out an extra portion for the birthday boy…

So when next in SOHO & seeking a standard restaurant for your next outing, you have got to try Shackfuyu.

And just around the corner from the supposedly “coolest cocktail bar in London’, The Escapologist.

An ideal stop after a lovely theatre performance just up the street 😉 Evening sorted!
