Banyan, Corn Exchange

I’m delighted to reveal my latest experience as a recent member of the Manchester #BloggerDiningClub; hosted by the lovely @GeorgieGlass_, we were invited to trial out Banyan’s NEW Autumn Menu!

Based in the heart of Spinningfields, arriving at Banyan on a summer’s evening after a long day at work feels highly necessary – with the strip of outside bars keeping the Manchester buzz alive around Corn Exchange.

As September’s now arrived, it felt an exciting time to test out Banyan’s new menu as we approach our third season of 2018. I simply could not wait for some true stylish yet hearty food inspired from influences from all around the world.

Gifts on Arrival

Upon arrival at Banyan’s venue, there were roughly 10 of us Manchester bloggers who were greeted by the hostess of the evening along with the friendly staff on standby. Welcomed with a chilled prosecco, we were soon escorted downstairs into the private function room which was part of their rustic yet chic basement.

As a guest to the evening, we were welcomed at our pre-set tables with a lovely beauty box filled with skin care gifts from Kiehl’s.

Food, Fitness, Fashion and Beauty are my FOUR key loves in life and I cannot wait to try out my new goodies from Kiehl’s for fresh skin.

Just when I thought I couldn’t get more excited, we were given a tasty health drink (that’s right!) from up & coming local brand, Yusa Drinks. Yusa is the first drink in the UK to use Guayusa to create a healthy refreshing energy drink that’s high in caffeine, antioxidants and low in sugar – what more could you want?!

Setting

As expected, the setting in Banyan Corn Exchange was stylish and brimming with character. From hanging copper lights to long brown leather sofas, the colour scheme is bang on and a casual yet luxurious vibe to dine out in.

Starter

Going for the biggest starter as you’d expect, myself and ex work wife @WhatEmmaDid_ went for a good old Mezze Platter (VE) between us.

The Mediterranean style sharing board consisted of chargrilled Mediterranean vegetables, hummus, falafels, balsamic pickled onions, tenderstem broccoli, olives, marinated artichokes, watermelon, pepperoncini, toasted seeds and warm pitta bread.

Simply delicious and very moreish – washed down with the refreshing drinks as follows…

Drinks Menu

So the drinks menu is just as spectacular as the food in my eyes – unique and very intriguing with the tasty yet peculiar mix of ingredients.

Let’s start with my personal favourite – the Cucumber Cooler. This cocktail consisted of Hendrick’s gin, Giffard pamplemousse, St Germain elderflower liqueur, pineapple & passion fruit syrup and Prosecco, served in a large wine shaped glass.

As a huge gin & elderflower lover, this cocktail did not fail to disappoint and is a perfect refreshing drink pre-main course.

Aside from catching up with one of my old work friends who lucky for us happens to be one of Manchester’s original food bloggers, we bumped into another ex colleague who also reviews food around the wonderful city – our good Spanish friend Pablo. Always lovely to catch up with old friends over decent food in an elegant setting.

I also tried the non-alcoholic cocktail called the Blushing Mexican. This consisted of guava, almond, blueberry, cucumber and lime all topped with ginger beer; ideal for those with a sweeter tooth (i.e. me!)

Main Course

It has to be pre-ordered; the Thai Red Chicken Curry with fresh jasmine rice.

The picture below says it all; beautifully presented butternut squash, sugar snap peas and the most tender cooked chicken in a creamy coconut sauce.

Pudding

Sampling another Manchester (mama blogger) @notjustatit’s dessert, I couldn’t help but fall in love with every pudding lover’s dream dish – the Indulgent Sharing Dessert.

Very on season for Autumn approaching us, this dessert consisted of a Mixed Berry Cheesecake, Chocolate & Raspberry Brownie with vanilla ice cream, and an Apple crumble.

You can also have each of these dishes as a larger portion on their own; of which I went for the full sized Strawberry & Apple Crumble which was topped with pouring cream.
